“Study Skills in the Content Area” is a four-day in-person course which focuses on skills that students need in order to achieve enhanced success in a college preparatory high school program. This course will present not only general study and organization techniques that can be applied across all curriculum areas, but it will also focus on subject specific strategies in content areas such as two-column notes and effective graphic organizers. The program will also address effective reading strategies and tools that contemporary textbooks use to help students both within the text and on the internet.

Class size limited to 20 and rosters spots fill by date of registration.

Power Reading Primer

“Power Reading Primer” is a three-day in-person course which focuses on the critical reading skills necessary to succeed across the curriculum of a college preparatory high school. With a focus on strengthening reading comprehension through effective notetaking, 学生将学习, practice and apply strategies that all strong readers utilize. 学生 will implement these strategies directly with the 暑期阅读 text assigned for our first-year students. 在课堂上处理课文的时候, students will prepare to not only complete the 暑期阅读 program successfully, but also have the critical reading tools required for success in the classroom in the first year of high school and beyond.

“成功的高中写作” is a four-day in-person course that focuses on both the content and process of writing effectively across the high school curriculum. This course covers the different kinds of writing assignments and situations that students will experience, 高效的段落结构, 文章的各个部分, 风格元素. 学生 will write in response to a series of questions and assignments designed to develop organization, 一致性, and critical thinking as part of the writing process.

“预代数能力回顾” is a four-day in-person course which focuses on knowledge and content from previous math courses that will be important for success in Algebra I. This course will review and reinforce by practice: vocabulary related to mathematical concepts; operations on positive and negative whole numbers, decimals and fractions; plotted points in the coordinate plane; the concept of variables; order of operations and simplifying expressions.

We ask that both students and parents/guardians review these policies. These details outline the general expectations that our instructors address on a daily basis. Each teacher may have his or her own areas of emphasis so please be aware of what each class expects. Please be your best student and self during our time together.

Please respect your teacher and classmates at all times.
Dress code should be presentable and within CCHS dress down guidelines with respect to what is appropriate for class. 帽子, 抽油烟机, 太阳镜, and revealing or inappropriate clothing that references sex, 不允许使用毒品或酒精.
Eating and/or drinking while participating in a session is not acceptable. This is distracting and inconsiderate of your teacher and classmates. 学生 eating during a session may be removed from the class.
Note: 学生 who consistently ignore the above may forfeit learning access and all paid program fees.

出席

If a student is sick and cannot attend class or has to miss class for some reason, CCHS requires that a parent or guardian call the school to report a student absence:

Call 978-682-0260, extension 644 and leave a message for Mr. 肖恩·杜马斯 that contains your child’s name and reason for absence.
Any student who is absent for a class meeting should email his or her instructor to obtain assignments materials. 学生 should complete work missed during the absence to gain the most benefit from the program, 最好是在下次班会之前. Unlike our required and for-credit programs, students do not need to attend classes for our enrichment programs.
